US forces have carried out a 13th consecutive night of strikes on Iranian military infrastructure, targeting command centres, drone storage and communication networks. The attacks aim to reduce threats to commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
US forces have carried out a 13th consecutive night of strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure, according to US Central Command. The operation, which concluded at 9 pm ET on July 23, struck military command centres, drone storage facilities, communication networks, coastal surveillance sites and maritime capabilities.
Objective and Strait Status
CENTCOM said the strikes were intended "to further diminish the threat Iran poses to civilian mariners and commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz." The command added that the waterway remains open for transit despite recent attacks from Iran's Revolutionary Guard, with commercial vessels continuing to navigate freely with US military support.
US Military Presence
The US military also said more than 50,000 American service members are currently deployed across the Middle East. The strikes come amid ongoing exchanges between the US and Iran following the breakdown of a Pakistani-brokered ceasefire agreement.
