Iran says drone strikes hit US bases in Kuwait

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on Friday claimed responsibility for a drone attack on the US-used Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, saying the strike inflicted heavy casualties and destroyed key infrastructure at the facility. The IRGC said in a statement that advanced "super-heavy" attack drones targeted a large ammunition depot, triggering successive explosions that "completely destroyed" the facility.

It added that the attack also destroyed six personnel accommodation hangars and extensively damaged three others, leaving "a large number" of US personnel dead or injured. The statement did not provide specific figures for the claimed casualties.

Earlier attacks target additional camps

The announcement followed an earlier statement from the Iranian army saying "Arash" attack drones had targeted US military equipment warehouses at Camp Udairi and troop positions at the Arifjan and Doha camps in Kuwait. Those facilities also host American troops deployed to the Gulf state.

Neither Kuwaiti nor US officials immediately commented on the claims or confirmed any casualties or damage from the reported attacks. Washington maintains several military installations in Kuwait as part of its regional defense strategy.
