Aselsan reviews projects with Uzbekistan Defense Industry Agency

Aselsan Chief Executive Ahmet Akyol received Mansur Ibodullaev, chairman of Uzbekistan's Defense Industry Agency, at the Turkish defense electronics giant's headquarters on Friday to review ongoing joint projects and explore avenues for deeper defense cooperation between the two nations.

"During our meeting, we discussed the activities carried out by our Aselsan Uzbekistan office in the region, our current projects and future cooperation opportunities," Akyol stated on X. The executive noted that the talks covered both existing collaborative efforts and potential new defense partnerships between Ankara and Tashkent.

Strategic priorities

Akyol said Aselsan would continue to strengthen cooperation based on mutual trust with friendly and brotherly countries. The company has established a regional presence in Uzbekistan to coordinate local operations and maintain closer ties with Central Asian defense authorities, positioning itself as a key technology partner for Tashkent's military modernization programs.

Founded in 1975, Aselsan ranks as Türkiye's largest defense electronics company, developing integrated systems spanning air defense, radar, electronic warfare, military communications, avionics, electro-optics and command-and-control architectures. The firm has increasingly targeted export markets in Central Asia and the broader Turkic world as part of its international growth strategy and efforts to reduce import dependency among allied states.
