Türkiye's Aselsan tests Tolun-P bunker-buster with Akinci drone

Türkiye's defense firm Aselsan announced Friday it has successfully test-fired its Tolun-P bunker-busting guided munition from Baykar's Bayraktar Akinci unmanned aerial vehicle, demonstrating the weapon's capacity to penetrate up to one meter of reinforced concrete with pinpoint accuracy against hardened targets.

Precision targeting capabilities

The 250-pound class weapon employs fully domestic guidance technologies designed to provide a force multiplier against heavily armored and concrete-protected installations. It utilizes a specialized nose design combined with high kinetic energy to maximize structural damage when striking fortified underground shelters, command centers, and armored hangars, offering enhanced operational efficiency over conventional weapons, Aselsan said.

Multi-payload integration

The Tolun-P integrates with the Sadak-4T multiple-payload pod system, enabling operators to load several munitions onto platforms such as the Akinci UAV. Electronic fuses can be programmed from the cockpit within seconds, allowing pilots to coordinate strikes against multiple strategic targets in a single sortie, the company noted.

Extended product line

Aselsan said the Tolun family encompasses several variants tailored to diverse mission profiles. These include the laser-guided Tolun-L, the electronic warfare variant Tolun-EW, the full-rate guided Tolun-F, the infrared-seeking Tolun-IIR, and the ground-launched Tolun-S system.
