Communications Director Burhanettin Duran on Friday described the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement between Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan as a "historic step," emphasizing that the pact strengthens shared security and collective deterrence while advancing defense industry cooperation in an increasingly complex global environment.

Turkish Communications Director Burhanettin Duran on Friday hailed the newly signed Mecca Joint Defense Agreement between Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan as "a historic step" that fortifies the three nations' shared history and strategic solidarity amid an increasingly complex global security environment.

Trilateral commitment

Duran said on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal that the agreement reflects Ankara's commitment to regional stability under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's leadership. "The Mecca Joint Defense Agreement signed between Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan is a historic step in further strengthening our shared history, deep-rooted brotherly ties and strong spirit of solidarity on a strategic basis," he said, adding that the pact would enhance military interoperability among the three nations.

Security architecture

The communications chief noted that the agreement does not target any specific country, instead focusing on enhancing common security and collective deterrence between the three Muslim-majority nations. He added that the pact reflects their determination to uphold shared values and build a future security architecture through solidarity, significantly contributing to regional peace and stability while advancing defense industry cooperation.

Duran expressed hope that the agreement would bring tangible benefits to the three brotherly countries while further cementing the deep-rooted brotherhood between Ankara, Riyadh and Islamabad. The trilateral pact marks a significant milestone in Türkiye's ongoing efforts to expand strategic defense partnerships across the Middle East and South Asia under President Erdogan's leadership.
