Russia says two civilians killed in overnight Ukrainian drone attacks

Russian regional governors reported Sunday that overnight Ukrainian drone attacks killed two civilians in the Krasnodar and Belgorod regions, as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed strikes on oil refineries located deep inside Russian territory, hundreds of kilometers from the border.
Russian authorities said Sunday that overnight Ukrainian drone attacks killed two civilians in the country's southern and western regions. Regional governors reported fatalities in both Krasnodar and Belgorod amid fresh strikes on energy infrastructure located hundreds of kilometers from the front line.
Krasnodar refinery hit
In the Krasnodar region, Governor Veniamin Kondratyev announced on the Russian social media platform Max that debris from a downed drone had ignited a fire at the Slavyansk oil refinery and damaged several residential structures. "As a result of falling drone debris, several houses were damaged and one person was killed," he said, adding that emergency services were responding to the blaze.
Casualties in Belgorod
Acting Governor Alexander Shuvayev reported that Ukrainian forces attacked the Belgorod region 64 times throughout the day, resulting in one death in the Shebekinsky district and one injury in the Rakityansky district. "Over the past day, the Ukrainian armed forces attacked the territory of the Belgorod region 64 times," he wrote on Max. "Unfortunately, a civilian was killed as a result of a targeted Ukrainian attack in the Shebekinsky district."
Kyiv confirms long-range strikes
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that his forces had targeted the Slavyansk refinery and a second facility in the Yaroslavl region, located roughly 700 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. "Last night, our long-range sanctions reached two oil refineries in Russia. The Slavyansky oil refinery in the Krasnodar region was affected – about 300 kilometers from the front line. We also reached an oil refinery in the Yaroslavl region, which is about 700 kilometers from our border," he said. Independent verification of the battlefield claims remains difficult due to ongoing hostilities.
