Muslim shop set on fire in Nepal's Sunsari
Footage circulating online appears to show a Muslim-owned repair shop engulfed in flames in Nepal's Sunsari district, with chants of "Jai Shri Ram" as the fire spread. Local accounts say a Hindutva mob was behind the July 29 blaze, and that several other Muslim-run businesses in the area were looted or vandalized around the same time.
The incident comes days after a dispute over religious symbols in Sunsari turned violent on July 25, killing one person and injuring several others. District authorities responded by imposing a curfew and setting up road blockades on July 28, as tensions between the area's Hindu and Muslim communities continued to simmer.
