King Abdullah II of Jordan receives Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting on Jerusalem, in Amman, Jordan on August 5, 2026.

Hakan Fidan said nearly 20 Islamic nations discussed "collective measures" against Israeli violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque during talks with Jordan’s King Abdullah II in Amman, stressing that regional crises must not distract attention from occupied Palestinian territories.

Türkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan was received by Jordan’s King Abdullah II in the capital on Wednesday, according to a statement from Türkiye's Foreign Ministry, as the diplomat attended a regional conference on Jerusalem.

Royal audience in Amman

Fidan met with the Jordanian monarch in Amman following his participation in the ministerial gathering, the ministry noted on its social media account. No further details regarding the bilateral discussions were immediately provided.

Ministerial meeting on Jerusalem

Earlier on Wednesday, Fidan attended a ministerial meeting on Jerusalem hosted by Jordan. Addressing nearly 20 Islamic counterparts, he said the participants discussed "collective measures" against Israel's recent violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Speaking to Anadolu afterwards, Fidan added that the meeting focused exclusively on recent Israeli actions targeting the compound. He stressed that regional crises should not distract international attention from developments in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Regional tensions

The diplomatic consultations come amid heightened tensions over Israeli incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound during the holy month of Ramadan, with Amman serving as custodian of Jerusalem's holy sites.
