Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said on Sunday it destroyed eight US military installations in Kuwait and Bahrain during overnight missile and drone strikes, describing the operation as retaliation for recent American attacks on Iranian facilities despite a Pakistan-brokered truce effort.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said on Sunday that its forces destroyed eight US military installations in Kuwait and Bahrain during overnight missile and drone strikes, claiming the operation retaliated for recent American attacks on Iranian territory.

Ballistic missiles and drones

The strikes targeted Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and facilities linked to the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, according to an IRGC statement reported by state broadcaster IRIB. The operation was jointly executed by the corps' naval and aerospace units using ballistic missiles and drones, the statement added.

The IRGC said the attacks came in response to recent US strikes on Iranian facilities in Sirik and Qeshm, marking one of the most significant direct Iranian assaults on US regional assets since the war began on Feb. 28. The latest escalation occurred hours after heightened tensions in Gulf waters.

Pakistan-brokered deal

The attacks came despite a recently signed memorandum of understanding brokered by Pakistan that aimed to end the war. The conflict has entered its second month without a diplomatic breakthrough.
