The German Research Center for Geosciences said a 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of the southern Philippines on Wednesday, with the tremor's epicenter located in the Mindanao region at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles). Philippine authorities issued no tsunami alert following the offshore tremor, and local disaster management offices reported no immediate casualties or infrastructure damage. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology continued to monitor the situation for aftershocks.
