Türkiye offers condolences over deadly Angola crash

Türkiye's Foreign Ministry on Tuesday expressed deep sadness over a traffic accident in southern Angola that killed 22 people, offering condolences to the families of the victims and the people of the Southern African nation.

Official statement

In a statement issued earlier in the day, the ministry said it was "deeply saddened by the loss of lives in a traffic accident that occurred yesterday (3 August) in Kwanza Sul province of Angola." The crash took place in the central region of the country, where road conditions have long posed safety risks to travelers.

Condolences extended

"We extend our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and to the people of Angola," the ministry said, emphasizing Ankara's solidarity with the Angolan government during this difficult period. Angolan authorities confirmed the death toll reached 22 in the single-vehicle incident.

Road safety concerns

Traffic accidents remain a leading cause of death across Angola, where aging infrastructure and challenging terrain contribute to frequent collisions. The Kwanza Sul province crash occurred as local officials continue efforts to improve highway safety standards nationwide.
