Solidarity bill marks step toward 'Terror-Free Türkiye': Speaker

Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş on Wednesday described a newly submitted bill on national solidarity as a significant milestone toward the country's "Terror-Free Türkiye" objective, saying the initiative has united diverse political perspectives around a common national goal. The Bill on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Cohesion was submitted to the legislature following a report by the parliamentary Commission on National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy.

Commission work hailed as 'unique example of democracy'

Kurtulmuş characterized the commission's efforts as "a unique example of democracy" that merged state experience with national wisdom under the legislative roof, according to a statement he posted on the social media platform NSosyal. "This work, which has united different political perspectives around such an important common ground, is a significant milestone that will reinforce our country's internal resilience and further strengthen our national unity and brotherhood in line with the 'Terror-Free Türkiye' goal," he said. The speaker added that the proposal could open the door to a new period in the second century of the Republic of Türkiye by strengthening democracy, increasing public welfare, and reinforcing trust.

Kurtulmuş thanked political parties, civil society representatives who provided recommendations, and members of the media for their contributions to the process. He expressed hope that the bill would benefit Türkiye and its people.
