Istanbul Airport sets European daily passenger record

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu announced on Saturday that Istanbul Airport processed a record 289,260 passengers on August 1, marking the highest daily total ever recorded in both Türkiye and Europe. "Istanbul Airport reached the highest daily passenger total of all time in Türkiye and Europe," Uraloglu said in a written statement. "With this figure, our Istanbul Airport set a new record," he added.

Global hub status

Uraloglu noted that the facility continues to grow in strategic importance within international aviation, ranking among the world's leading airports for its capacity and service quality. "This new record once again demonstrated that our airport has further strengthened its position as a global transfer hub," he said, citing the airport's robust infrastructure and operational standards as key drivers of its success.

The minister emphasized that Istanbul Airport's advanced capabilities place it among the top tier of global aviation centers, supporting its role as a critical connection point between continents. The facility has rapidly expanded its operations since opening to become one of the busiest transit hubs worldwide, handling millions of passengers annually while maintaining its status as Türkiye's primary international gateway.
