US President Donald Trump said he will travel to Türkiye to attend the NATO Summit that will take place in Ankara on July 7-8, underscoring the country's growing role in international diplomacy and alliance discussions.
Speaking to US Air Force personnel before departing from Joint Base Andrews for Camp David on Friday, Trump briefly outlined his upcoming international schedule and confirmed that Türkiye is among the destinations on his agenda. “We are doing a lot of trips. We will be going to Turkey,” he said.
NATO leaders set to gather in Ankara
Trump's announcement comes ahead of the NATO Summit in the Turkish capital, where leaders from member states are expected to address a range of security and defense issues. The meeting is set to bring global attention to Ankara as the alliance evaluates ongoing regional and international developments.
The US president's remarks were delivered during an event where he introduced a Boeing 747 aircraft donated by Qatar, which is expected to become part of the Air Force One fleet in the future.
China visit also on Trump's agenda
In addition to his planned trip to Türkiye, Trump indicated that a visit to China is also being considered. He said Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to travel to the United States in September, while a separate major conference is scheduled to take place in China.
“President Xi is coming here in September, but we're going back for a big conference that's in China,” Trump said, suggesting that preparations for high-level diplomatic engagements between Washington and Beijing are continuing.

The upcoming NATO Summit in Ankara is expected to reinforce Türkiye's position as a key member of the alliance and a strategic hub connecting Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The gathering will provide an important platform for discussions on collective defense, regional stability and transatlantic cooperation.
