Israeli warplanes and drones renewed strikes on southern and eastern Lebanon on Friday, wounding five people near Baalbek and killing 28 since the morning in the deadliest escalation since Washington and Tehran signed a ceasefire memorandum earlier this week.

Israeli warplanes and drones carried out renewed strikes on southern and eastern Lebanon on Friday, wounding five people near the eastern city of Baalbek and killing 28 since the morning in the deadliest escalation since Washington and Tehran signed a ceasefire memorandum earlier this week. The National News Agency (NNA) reported that the air force hit the southern town of Touline and an Israeli drone targeted Borj Qallaway in the Bint Jbeil district, while intensive drone activity was observed over the Litani River basin and the Tyre area.

Casualties and Territorial Gains

Warplanes also struck Jabal al-Rafih in the Jezzine region and shelled the area with artillery, the agency said. In eastern Lebanon, an Israeli strike on a building in Ain Bourday on the outskirts of Douris near Baalbek injured five people, including one with minor wounds.

Diplomatic Fallout

Since March 2, Israel's military offensive has killed 3,912 people, injured 11,873 others, and displaced more than one million residents, according to the latest official figures. Israeli forces have advanced more than 10 kilometers into Lebanese territory during the recent campaign.

US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian electronically signed the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding on Wednesday evening to end the war. Iran postponed technical-level talks with the US scheduled for Friday in Switzerland, citing "continued" Israeli ceasefire violations mainly in southern Lebanon, Pakistani government sources said.
