Member of the European Commission responsible for Enlargement Marta Kos stated on Tuesday that Türkiye plays a key role in the Connectivity Agenda, drawing attention with her remarks: 'I can't imagine it without Türkiye.'

EU official emphasizes Türkiye's role in connectivity

Marta Kos, Member of the European Commission responsible for Enlargement, expressed her satisfaction with the participation of Türkiye's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu at the high-level opening event of the Connectivity Agenda Platform held in Brussels.

Stating that they would continue their contacts with Türkiye, Kos said she would meet with Turkish officials today, and that at the end of the month she would visit Ankara together with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas and EU Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner.

'I CAN'T IMAGINE IT WITHOUT TÜRKİYE'

Pointing out that EU-Türkiye relations are progressing on two separate tracks, Kos noted that while no progress has been made in the accession process at this stage, there is much to be done on the connectivity agenda.

"I cannot imagine having a strong Middle Corridor and all these digital, energy and trade connections without Türkiye’s strong participation," Kos said.

Stating that they have received a list from Türkiye's Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding potential connectivity projects, Kos explained that projects are being evaluated together with proposals from other countries, and that work is ongoing.
